Addressing Bias in Hiring

When hiring organizations often rely on intuition and unstructured interviews, which can lead to biases and overconfidence in decision-making. Research shows that structured interviews, combined with a scoring framework, are significantly more effective in evaluating candidates performance. An objective scoring system enhances consistency, reduces subjectivity, and provides actionable insights for better hiring decisions.

The Role of Structured Interviews and Scoring Frameworks

The dashboard below demonstrates the use of scoring frameworks, assigning responses a numerical score (1 to 10) for each question. Typically, there are ten questions, but the number can be adjusted as needed. Each evaluator scores a candidate's answers, and the dashboard integrates with a connected Google Form to summarize the data, making the analysis simple and easy to interpret. Real-time scoring minimizes memory biases, such as overemphasizing recent or particularly striking answers, ensuring fair and accurate evaluations.

Structured Interview Results Dashboard

The first page displays the average scores for all ten questions per candidate, enabling hiring teams to identify top candidates at a glance. In this example, each question is weighted equally at 10%, but the weights can be adjusted based on specific needs. It also includes visual summaries of each candidate’s responses across all questions, as well as the average score for each question.

The second page provides a detailed analysis for each candidate, making it easy to identify those who consistently scored high throughout the interview and those with more varied or dispersed scores.

The dashboard is interactive, allowing users to easily check or uncheck options to view performance details for each candidate.
